L'interprétation de Klemperer de la Passion selon saint Matthieu de Bach est magistrale. Un réenregistrement du son améliore l'enregistrement précédent. Les solistes, l'orchestre et le chœur offrent une version dramatique et à la fois émouvante. Je recommande fortement, sauf pour les historiens.

Ce disque enregistré en 1961 est le point de référence à partir duquel tous les autres sont jugés et jusqu'à présent aucun n'est venu près de lui. Un team de solistes pour mourir, une grande orchestre moderne (pas d'absurdités historiques!!!) un chef d'orchestre qui vit chaque barre et producteur de disque qui a pris la peine et le temps de réunir des solistes, un orchestre et un chef d'orchestre qui étaient simplement parfaits pour l'époque et 60 ans après cela sont toujours sans conteste encore les meilleurs.
C'est la deuxième copie que j'ai achetée. Ma première copie que j'ai eu pendant 30 ans ou plus, le deuxième CD a commencé à se coincer pour une raison inconnue. Ma deuxième copie =est la nouvelle édition remastérisee, ma première série achetée sonnait vraiment bien cependant, ma deuxième copie splendidelement remastérisee sonne superbe et difficile à croire que l'enregistrement est de 60 ans. Il y a des gains en plenitude, détails et fréquences du son et on est maintenant plus conscient de la grandeur de l'halle Kingsway où cette performance légendaire a été enregistrée.
Je suis toujours sous le charme à partager dans cette performance et on sent la gravité et l'émotion du sujet, de la passion qui commence dès les premières mesures qui sont lourdes et magistrielles. Avec Klemperer (en empruntant le titre de Hollywood) on réalise que J S Bach raconte réellement la plus grande histoire jamais contée à travers sa musique.

La Passion selon Saint Matthieu de Bach est un chef-d'œuvre musical qui définit non seulement la canne de Bach mais toute la musique classique. Il est magnifiquement rendu ici par l'orchestre et le casting de chanteurs au sommet de leur art. Cela amène le listener à la cœur de ce moment clé dans le développement du christianisme. Sublime et indispensable...

J'ai finalement pu m'offrir ce cd. C'est probablement la meilleure version de la passion jamais enregistrée. L'esprit qui se dégage à chaque passage de l'œuvre est incroyable.
La version de Karl Richter du 58 est également exceptionnelle.
