Je ne connaissais pas cette œuvre de Haendel, dont je suis en train de reconstruire l'intégrale d'œuvres et d'oratorios. Édition très appréciée, voix splendides, prix très avantageux.

C'est une opéra baroque immense, sublimement dramatique, dominante dans tous les registres, comique et acide, douce et élevée. C'est la quintessence de l'opéra baroque.

Ces œuvres, je me permets de dire, sont musicalement poétiques. Il s'agit d'une des premières enregistrements de Handel sous la direction de Gardiner, et la même chose vaut pour l'apport de celui-ci : pure poésie musicale.

La musique est naturellement délicieuse, les performances (et la direction) sans faille, la production et l'équilibre sonore vraiment excellents, le texte informatif et intéressant.
Probablement le meilleur coffret CD que j'ai acheté cette année, je l'adore beaucoup.
